A violent 4-car head-on collision in Pennsylvania claimed the life of a driver of one of the vehicles. The accident happened when a pickup traveling east crossed the double yellow line and collided head on into a Ford traveling westbound. A box truck traveling west crashed into the Ford. Then the driver of a station wagon also driving westbound crashed into the box truck. The driver of the Ford was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
Unfortunately, head-on collisions occur quite frequently injuring and even killing many motorists.
Tips to Avoid Head-on Collisions
A head-on collision is the worst crash most of us can think of. However, they are preventable if motorists stay alert and exercise great caution. Here are some driving tips to avoid head-on crashes.
- Anticipate those places and situations where head-on collisions are possible;
- Stay alert and slow down on curvy roads;
- Look far down the road, look out for erratic distracted driving;
- Use your headlights even during daylight;
- Do not hug the centerline on curvy roads;
- Drive on the right side of the lane;
- If a head-on collision is unavoidable, go off the road to the right, not to the left.
